Money raised from these rodeos is put into a "Special Events Fund." In October, 2004, the SDRA Championship Finals were held in Huron and again recognized Make-A-Wish® children and their families at the Saturday night performance. Throughout the entire weekend the Rodeo Association also sponsored many fun-filled events for the "wish children" and their families. It is also the goal of the SDRA through their special events to raise enough money to "adopt-a-wish" for the Make-A-Wish Foundation®. The Make-A-Wish Foundation® grants wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions to enrich the human experience with hope, strength and joy. Make-A-Wish® provides sick children and their families with hope and special memories of joy and smiles that are dramatically different from their daily experience of hospitals, doctors, surgeries, spinal taps, chemotherapy, anxiety and fear. A "wish come true" provides a wonderful respite, a time for a family with a sick child to return to a state of normalcy. The Make-A-Wish Foundation® extends a very special thank you to the SDRA for their commitment and support. It’s with this support that over 60 children in South Dakota will experience a miracle, a dream come true in 2004.
